A SPECIAL REBREATHER

It's hard to say who, where, or when, but we're most likely at the beginning of the current era of rebreather expansion, in the early 2000s when very few devices of this type, whether SCR or CCR, were available to the sports public. But it was the time of genius, of technological do-it-yourself, when many people succeeded one another in proposing something new. Or, who knows, the creation shown in the photos could even be more recent.

It undoubtedly has a nice array of innovative solutions, unique enough to attract attention. You can see the combination with the double tank, the dry suit used as a breathing bag, the separate canister worn on the hip, the ventral oxygen tank, the rear BCD, the valve or diverter under the mouthpiece, an open-circuit second stage kept within easy reach. And various other things anyone can try to recognize.
Did it really work? Was it followed up? We don't know, but the creativity and hard work of those who developed it certainly doesn't seem to have been rewarded with great success.
