Cressi name had been known for at least seven years as a small artisanal manufacturer of diving masks, fins and spear guns, when the brothers Egidio and Nanni decided it was time to grow and founded in 1946 the "Società Cressi Sub - Il Pescatore Subacqueo" with headquarters in Genoa in Corso Torino 38.
This is a known history, but what is definitely less known is the parallel story of their sister Angela, quite special, especially considering the era in which she excelled.

She was a talented athlete involved in many disciplines including skiing, tennis, horse riding and athletics and she inevitably gets infected by the family passion. She discovers scuba diving and in 1948 she is on the Island of Elba at the Italian Touring Club Campsite, where the "Scuola di Caccia Subacquea" (Underwater Hunting School) organized by the "Unione Sportiva Dario Gonzatti " from Genoa. We could see among the instructors Egidio Cressi, Duilio Marcante, Luigi Ferraro. Angela is quick to learn, becomes passionate about spearfishing and takes part in many competitions. In the picture she is portrayed holding the "Perla" mask, the "Delfino" snorkel, the "Rondine" fins from 1951 and  the "Mignon" gun with internal elastic from 1953. This is the year in which she achieves her greatest goals, winning the Italian Underwater Hunting Championship in Naples and the European Championship for the Italian National Team in Cannes. Everything is made official in her curriculum vitae by the National Union of Sports Veterans.
