ONE FILTER INSIDE THE TANK

In 1960, the French company H. Broussard, general agent of La Spirotechnique, launched in the market one filter to be mounted inside tanks, presenting it as an important news. It must be fixed at the end of the suction tube whose function, as is well known, is the one to draw air away from the walls of the container, preventing rust particles or other particles from entering the taps in any position the cylinder is in.

This system always proved to be valid; however, to be sure that not even the smallest impurities ended up in the lungs through breathing, something else was needed. So, the duo Cousteau-Gagnan at that time, proposed a special micrometric filter, based on the principle of the fluid separator that equipped the "well-known Marine 57 type filter known throughout the world". This filter was declared able to retain impurities from the oxidation of metals, thus ensuring that lung infections, blocked taps and deterioration of dispensers are avoided. The Broussard advertising assured it, in its presentation poster. It may have been true, but there is no evidence that this prestigiously designed accessory had great success, not even in those distant years when rust in gas cylinders was anything but rare.
